Charles Bobuck, under some name, composed for The Residents until 2016. The Residents had all but stopped making albums after 2008 but Bobuck kept doing what he always did, so he made Charles Bobuck albums instead of Residents albums.

Charles Bobuck became visible about the same time The Residents felt the pinch of the popularity of free downloading. They, like many bands, shifted their energy toward live performance. However, Mr. Bobuck did not like touring. He preferred making albums. So he quit touring and made albums instead. Logical.
THIS is a collection of music from the many “underground” albums he independently recorded between 2009 and 2016, as well as, pieces he wrote under the nom de plume of Sonidos de la Noche, Chuck, and The Residents during those same years.

What was right about Grandpa was his love of jazz, and what was left of Grandpa was his collection of 78s. Left to me, at least. He was the one who first pulled earphones over my six year old head while mumbling, "Listen to this." The headphones smelled like cigarettes. The sound, however, immediately flushed Disney tunes from my young brain.
Grandpa Charles would not think this album jazz. But I do.

I am a married man. I married a guy named Roman a really long time ago. Roman has never been a fan of my music. That has not been a problem, but I thought I would enjoy trying to write something for Roman, something that is both personal and public.

CODGERS ON THE MOON

This collection of eleven contraptions - "contraptions" seems like a better description than compositions - all share a number of things in common. First off… none are particularly dramatic, clever or ironic. Maybe a tiny bit of soaring, but for the most part, it is a series of tuned percussive patterns laid on top of each other, audio moiré. They take their beauty in a type of minimalism. So perhaps it is akin to sitting on the ground and inspecting nature immediately around you .

Technically an album by Sonidos de la Noche, I wrote this after getting inspired by hearing Dr. John's album, Gris Gris.
A million years ago, a big rock fell out of the sky and landed right in the middle of Louisiana. Well, it wasn't Louisiana at that time. But that rock fell, and it hit hard making a giant dent. It gradually filled in but no matter what, it still left a dent. And that dent held just enough water that it became a primeval swamp known as Coochie Brake.
The dark atmosphere is captured in the music found on this disc.
